Wings of Tatev, the recently opened (2010) aerial tramway, connects village Halidzor with Tatev monastery in Armenia. Wings of Tatev is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in one section only (Guinnes Book of Records).
The 5 752 m long ropeway passes, built by through a deep gorge of the River Vorotan and over hills covered with lush forests. Within 11 minutes an aerial tramway cabin takes passengers from the village of Halidzor to the magnificent complex of Tatev monastery. The monastery, built in 9th century, played a major role in the life of the region as its spiritual, cultural and scientific center and it is one of the most favorite tourist attractions in Armenia. At its highest point over the Vorotan gorge, the aerial tramway travels 320 m above ground level.
