At 225 Peachtree Street NE, South Tower, in the walkway between the North Tower and the South Tower, there stands a large metal rectangular block that is cut in an abstract manner. At first it looks like it should spell out some word or phrase, but the longer one looks at it, the more convinced one becomes that it really doesn't consist of letters or symbols ... that it is just an abstract shape or shapes that give it that appearance.
This abstract public art piece was made by John C. Portman who is well known, especially in Atlanta, as a world renowned architect as well as sculptor. Portman created this abtract art in 1989. There are several other Portman sculptures that are on display just a few blocks away at the SunTrust Plaza. But this one is along the breezeway between the North and South Tower, just off Peachtree Street NE, between the Bank of America branch office and the Mall at Peachtree Center in downtown Atlanta, GA.
