This mural has the following wording painted within it on the representation of a banner:
Sarcoxie Missouri
Established in 1831 Sarcoxie Missouri was originally called Centerville. The town was later named after a friendly local Indian chief, Rising Sun of the Turtle Band of the Delaware Indians who was also known as "Chief Sarcoxie." Sarcoxie is the oldest town in Jasper County and has been known as the Strawberry and Peony Capitol of the World. Elevation: 1088 feet
A small rectangular patch gives the name of the artists.
There are 4 ornate boxes with information above the aforementioned banner representation. The boxes contain these depictions:
- A scene with a mill, a railroad depot, and a gazebo such as is found a short distance away in the town square.
- A box of strawberries, some peonies, and a wooden sign with the name Wilds Nurseries thereon.
- The name Chief Sarcoxie, a representation of his profile with Indian bonnet, and a teepee.
- A business entitled Reba's Dari-Inn with a hamburger and fries; a Go Bears pendant; and a square with Gene Taylor for Congress.
There is no indication as to the date when the mural was painted, even using a web search. However, there is a waymark that shows the side of the building on 28 December 2006 and the mural was not there at that time.
