The Windthorst General Store in windswept Archer County TX is the only store in town, so they carry a little bit of everything -- from groceries to garden hoses, and motor oil to muck boots.
They also fix a mean German plate lunch of traditional wurst and sauerkraut from Fischer's in Muenster, another small German town not TOO far away (by Texas standards, anyway).
We took home a pint jar of Fischer's German Brown Mustard (sounds ike a lot but this mustard is so yummy it will go in a few months), a loaf of Muenster Bakery rye bread, and some strudel. C-H-O-M-P!!!
When you come to Windthorst, be dure and go across the street to see the amazing Catholic church. Stop in and read the miraculous story of the grotto, and its role in the lives of the town boys who served in WWII.
