Schwäbisch Hall - Badtorweg mit Josenturm - Picture Perfect Postcards on Waymarking.com

I found an old postcard of Schwäbisch Hall showing Josenturm and Badtorweg from a place near river Kocher. The postcard shows an aquarell-painting from 1878, painted by Johann Friedrich Reik. Strange thing on this picture is, the foreground wasn't like painted. At the time of painting the view wasn't like the one the postcard shows. There has been a branche of river Kocher just beside the Badtorweg. This riverbranche was feeding the three mills close by. Maybe it was not such a nice view, so the painter prefered to paint a cornfield.


Ich habe kürzlich eine alte Postkarte von Schwäbisch Hall gefunden die den Josenturm und den Aufgang über den Badtorweg aus Richtung des Flusses Kocher zeigt. Die Postkarte zeigt ein Aquarell-Gemälde von 1878, gemalt von Johann Friedrich Reik . Kleine Besonderheit der Karte ist, dass das Getreidefeld im Vordergrund der Karte nie so existiert hat. Zu der Zeit des Gemäldes befand sich unmittelbar vor dem Badtorweg ein Seitenarm des Kochers der die dort plazierten Mühlen mit Wasser versorgte. Möglicherweise war die Ansicht des Ortes in der Realität nicht ganz so schön, weshalb der Maler es bevorzugte ein Kornfeld zu malen.
