Het gemeente wapen is het wapen van de familie Van Oudtshoorn. Hetzelfde wapen werd gevoerd door de familie De Vlaming van Outshoorn, die de ambachtsheerlijkheid Oudshoorn in 1627 kocht.
De hoorns in het wapenschild zijn posthoorns. In tegenstelling tot posthoorns zijn jachthoorns altijd voorzien zijn van een koord.
Het wapen bleef tot het opheffen van de gemeente in 1918 in gebruik. Het wapen is nog steeds afgebeeld boven de ingang van de Oudshoornse kerk en in een aantal gebrandschilderde ramen in deze kerk. Op het wapenbord van Oudshoorn dat jarenlang onder de Julianabrug hing en dat thans in de raadzaal van de gemeente Alphen aan den Rijn hangt, zijn de (jacht!)hoorns (foutief) naar links gewend.

This municipality weapon is the weapon of the family Van Oudtshoorn. The same weapon was owned by the family of De Vlaming of Outshoorn, who in 1627 purchased the manor Oudshoorn.
The horns on the scield are post horns. Unlike post horns hunting horns always have a cord.
This coats of arms was used until the municipality was abolished in 1918. The coats of arms is still displayed above the entrance of the Oudhoorn’s church and in some stained glass windows in this church.
