This indoor swimming pool is part of Castlegar's recreational complex, which includes an NHL sized arena, fitness rooms and meeting, banquet and convention rooms and a seniors' centre.

Officially opened on September 11, 1976, the whole complex still looks new, which must be a testament to the level of maintenance, as it certainly isn't because of lack of use.
The Castlegar & District Aquatic Centre consists of a 25 meter by 12 metre 6 lane pool, zero depth tots spray pool, steam room, whirlpool, dance studio, weight room and outdoor patio. The main pool is kept at a temperature of 28°C (82°F).

There is a large concession stand, "The Breakaway Grill", in the foyer of the hockey arena.
We visited the complex on a coldish day in January and the pool was filled with kids, parents, and a few actual swimmers doing laps. The heat and humidity are immediately noticed by someone wearing a winter jacket.
