The Porter's Lodge was built as a home for the guard at the southeast gate of the Dee Street Hospital in Invercargill. The house was built in 1866 and is reported to be the oldest house in Invercargill. The house is in a Victorian cottage style. The hospital closed in 1979 and the house was then converted to offices for the Citizens Advice Bureau.
