In 1931, angels came to William Avery Houston in a dream and convinced him to dig a well on his property. The water that came out of it cured his kidney disease, and was delicious, too! The well is open to the public -- bring your own container, pay by the honor system (25 cents per gallon).

There are "Houston" signs to guide you. The well discharges into an old heated block building, which is like a small greenhouse. Parking available in back. Visit during daylight hours only. Official price has doubled to 50 cents per gallon, filling your own container. Or take a drink at the water fountain.

The novelty of this place is reading the old newspaper articles and having a refreshing sip during your road trip through this area.
