This well crafted and attractive statue of the Buddha is housed in a city government shrine, in the city government precinct, which lies in the city centre, of the small northern Thai provincial capital of Maha Sarakham, in northern Thailand. Entry to the grounds is unrestricted.

Above the entrance to the shrine is an inscription and date of dedication, in the curvaceous Thai script. The date given is 2528 of the Buddhist Era, which translates to 1985 of the Common Era. The inscription (as it was translated for me) states that this area is a meeting place for the senior monks (abbots, I assume) of the province.
Year of construction: 2528

Full inscription:
Meeting place for provincial abbots.
