The Pharr Mounds are a group of eight mounds that rest on 85 acres. The people who built these are thought to be of the Middle Woodland period between 1 and 200 A.D. Archaeologists have uncovered cremated human remains here, as well as unburned remains, along with items that would have been used in burial ceremonies that originated from other parts of the country. The National Park Service manages the area, and there is a viewing area with informative signs.
