"Das Achilleion ist ein Palast auf Korfu bei Gastouri, etwa sieben Kilometer südlich der Inselhauptstadt Korfu, den die österreichische Kaiserin Elisabeth (Sisi) in den Jahren 1890–1892 erbauen ließ.
Es wurde auf dem Grundstück des bekannten Korfioten Petros Brailas-Armenis (eines Freundes Sisis) nach seinem Tod errichtet. Benannt wurde es nach Achilles, den Sisi wegen seiner Kraft bewunderte.
Der früher vorwiegend privat genutzte Palast wurde in ein diplomatisches Zentrum umfunktioniert. Die Einrichtungsgegenstände Sisis wurden zum großen Teil durch Einrichtungsgegenstände aus Berlin ersetzt." - Quelle: Wikipedia
