Salmo is home to many stone murals celebrating the history and natural beauty of the area.

The stone mural on the back side of the Salmo Hotel has two miners, most likely in the Emerald Mine. The Emerald Mine was the most active mine in the area in the 19th and 20th centuries. This is a typical scene of what the workers endured while in the mines. During winter, conditions at the mines were extreme.

The rock in the ore cart is real ore that was donated by Maxine & Doug Lukey.
