There has been a church in this location since the mid 7th century. Today, St Mary Magdalene Church, also known as the church on the green still has a thriving community.

The ring of eight sound out on a Sunday, and i can hear these quite clearly from my house which is about a third of a mile away.

The following was taken from Loves Guide to the church bells in Kent

Bell Weight Diameter Cast Founder

1 4-0-0 253/4" 1912 Alfred Bowell

2 4-2-4 263/4" 1912 Alfred Bowell

3 5-2-12 291/2" 1737 Richard Phelps

4 5-2-0 303/4" 1700 Philip Wightman

5 6-0-7 323/4" 1700 Philip Wightman

6 7-2-0 34" 1700 Philip Wightman

7 8-3-9 365/8" 1912 Alfred Bowell

8 11-1-18* 413/4" 1892 Mears & Stainbank

*Source of this weight not clear. Bowell recorded it as 11-2-0 in 1912 which was presumably when it was last weighed. Perhaps this is a supplied weight?
