In Newton, at the corner of Centre Street and Cotton Street, is the Old East Parish Cemetery.

The cemetery is located across the street from the Boston College Law School. The gates will likely be closed to the cemetery, so park on Cotton Street (during times that the signs posted allow) or at the law school.

The cemetery is on hilly terrain, and are dispersed across the gounds among mature trees. The grounds have graves from the mid-1600s to the 20th century. Interment.com has a listing of graves at this cemetery. There are over 600 names listed.

The graves are in various states and styles. Some are slates with engraved text and line art work. Some are tombs in marble with weathered features. Others are granite.

Near the top of the hill is a white marble monument listing the names of the early settlers of Newton. It is presumed that they were buried by the monument. Among the names is Rev. John Eliot, Jr., son of the Rev. John Eliot, who was often referred as "The Apostle to the Indians" for his "Praying Indian Towns" placed throughout eastern and central New England.
