Given that Trail is on a river (the Columbia) and not a lake or ocean, beaches are a rare commodity here. This beach is at the northern end of Gyro Park, one of the largest parks in Trail, which, when walkways are included, stretches for a few km along the river. The beach is comparatively small, so there are no volleyball courts, etc.

In the spring and early summer the beach can get REALLY small, as the river can rise as much as 3 metres, bringing the water up to and over the sidewalk seen in the photos. But, high water or low water, it's a nice place to walk in the sand or sunbathe on a hot day. And that cold river water can cool one down in a hurry when it's really hot.

Kids love to wade in the river here, but there isn't a lot of room to swim, as the current can quickly carry one away if they should get out of the large eddy at the beach.

There are washrooms right at the beach and lots of benches and picnic tables, both open and covered, nearby. As well, if it's shade you seek, there are lots of trees to shade one as they snooze on the grass. And, for those REALLY, REALLY hot days, there's a water spray park just a few metres south of the beach.

Coordinates are for the main entrance to the beach.
