This Queen Anne-Eastlake style house is a two-story wood frame structure with a full attic and daylight basement. The redwood shingles arranged in a fish-scale pattern on the second story is a distinctive feature. There are both first and second story porches and double front doors.
Originally the house was located at 245 Church Street NE in downtown Salem. When the lot was acquired for private development (1987), the house was relocated to this site. The house was built for George Collins, a retired brick yard owner and former warden and superintendent of the Oregon State Penitentiary.
