The building is 3 storeys high and this clock was placed on top of the building above the main entrance on the corner of Crown Street and Carlton Street. The building is made out of local stone and the clock is set into a small tower of the same town. Because of the angle of the entrance the clock dominates the shopping street of Crown Street.
It has a black and white face with Roman Numerals. Around the outside of the face the minutes are marked with small lines. Below the clock, carved into the stone is a date of 1889.
The building itself was originally opened in 1876. The Hebden Bridge cooperative society ceased trading in the 1960s and to-day a number of small shops occupy the ground floor.
