The herbarium at the University of Texas contains over a million specimens. It is located in the UT Main Building, which when Mama Blaster was in school there, also housed the Science Library.
The official address is as follows:
Plant Resources Center
University of Texas at Austin
Main Building, Room 127
110 Inner Campus Dr. Stop F0404
Austin, Texas 78712-1711
Visitor parking is located at the Brazos Parking Garage at MLK and Brazos Street near Jester Center. The walk to the Main Building is not too far, and you can see some of the campus. Coordinates for the parking garage are provided below.
The prettiest way to get to the Tower is to walk up Brazos Street to Jester Circle and turn L. At Speedway St turn R and walk north to E 21st street, on the other side of Jester Center. Turn L (west) on E 21st street and walk to the Littlefield Fountain, then turn N and walk up the Main Mall to the Tower.
If you call when the school is in session, they will probably let you visit the herbarium. Most everything at UT is open to the public, but hours are pretty casual and informal when the students are on break.
