Max is 18 feet (5.6 m) tall and weighs 2 tons. He was officially unveiled on July 19, 1962. He is made of mesh, steel rods, concrete and a layer of lacquer.
Although one of his dislikes (listed on the Location Website below) is birds, he now has a bald eagle with spreading wings as a companion.
