The first Girl Scout day camp was organized in 1922 in Newington, CT. To commemorate this event the Girl Scouts of Newington erected a monument at the site. A bronze plaque attached to a boulder is inscribed:

The monument is in a landscaped area surrounded by benches and augmented with a peace pole.
