This is the state line between the town of Salem in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, and the city of Methuen in Essex County, Massachusetts. The south end reads "M. MASS" and the north end reads "S. N.H." - in essence, you are leaving the municipality indicated on the side you see. There is a sign stating "WELCOME TO SALEM NEW HAMPSHIRE" just north of the stone, a sign reading "WELCOME TO METHUEN MASSACHUSETTS" across the street not far south of this, and a "LEAVING METHUEN MASSACHUSETTS" one not far south of it on the side of the street. This marker is easily accessible. From I-93 - take MA exit 48 onto MA-213 east and get off at exit 2. Take a left. From I-495: take exit 47. Get off at MA-213 exit 2 and take a right. From MA-28: go northbound on MA-28 until you see the MA-213 ramps. Keep going beyond this. FOR ALL MENTIONED: Not far from there you will see a Mobil gas station and a small Bank of America outpost. It will be visible from both. You have plenty of parking room because of the gas station. From NH-28: Go southbound until you see the Mobil. Enter Massachusetts, turn left into the Mobil, and visit. FOR ALL: Additional parking is available at Lowe's, where the (unmarked part of) the state line runs through the parking lot. Also at the Lowe's is an ALDI and a NAMCO.
