A larger than life mosaic of a Red Kite bird stands on a grass banking outside the Red kite centre & Museum. The Mosaic is clearly visible from the road.
"The building which now houses the Red Kite Centre in Tregaron was opened in 1873 as a Church in Wales school. The school finally closed in 1950 but began to be used by the community once more in 1997. After a grant from the Countryside Council for Wales in 2003, the Red Kite Centre opened to the public as a centre for the community and for visitors to the area." Text Source: (

"There is a reconstructed Victorian school room in the old church school at the Kite Centre in Tregaron. It includes pupils' desks; a teacher's desk; blackboard; slates and slate pencils; a Welsh Not; a cane and some costumes for the girls to wear. Local volunteers are sometimes available to talk to the children or give a lesson in a Victorian style.
