The Huddersfield Narrow Canal is one of three canals that cross the Pennine Hills and was built in 1811.

It starts at Huddersfield on the eastern side of the Pennines and finishes at Ashton-Under-Lyne on the western side.

There are only 4 of these milestones still in existence and it is an English Heritage Grade II listed building reference number 1261754.

The milestone is next to lock 26W and is set back slightly from the towpath and stands next to a dry stone wall.
