Depicted modern and really unusual Astronomical clocks with dial depicting actually visible constellations, time by LEDs on its perimeter and accompanied with show with huge wooden puppets you can find on a new building of Puppet Theatre in Ostrava.
The Astronimical clocks shows sidereal constellations made from LED lights and also displays an actual time by three intensive LED lights on the perimeter of its circular dial (hours, minutes, seconds). Under the dial you can find three moving doors that hide three pairs of fairly tale creatures that appear every even hour in the little windows above the facade of the Puppet Theatre (Divadlo loutek). The King and the Queen, the Devil and the Angel and Death and the Jester parade in front of curious eyes of those walking by.
The moving wooden puppets were carved by Pavel Skorkovský according to a design by artist Tomáš Volkmer. The show lasts about one minute and fifteen seconds and is accompanied by Vlastimil Ondruška’s music.
The limewood puppets are 180 cm tall. Each pair represents a certain symbol: the King and the Queens symbolise the male and female principles; the Angel and the Devil represent good and evil; and the Jester, who constantly makes fun of everything, is paired with serious Death. With the exception of Death, the puppets were made according to five statues found around the theatre.
