This active, though underused station was built in 1872 and initially served as the terminus for the Great Western Railway and then the Grand Trunk Railway. In 1923 Candian National assumed passenger service responsibilities.
The depot was renovated in 1951 and again in 1967. In 1973 VIA rail Canada assumed responsibility for all passenger rail servives in Canada.
The depot again saw renovations in the 1980's and 1990's, with part of the west wing being demolished.
Today, VIA operates 1 daily train and AMTRAK operates the Maple Leaf, from Toronto to New York City.
