I only noticed this out-of-place grave after seeing it on a topography map listed as 'Grave'. I had to check it out. The grave is a marble headstone with the inscription:
L.A.CLARK
DIED MAY 11, 1911
AGED 61 YRS.
Native of Illinois
The grave is located on the SE corner of the junction of Hwy 139 and Clear Lake Reservoir Rd heading east. The grave stands out with no nearby vegetation and a circle of lava rock around the perimiter of the grave, with plastic flowers and an old knitted hat that someone placed on the headstone. It can't even be determined if this grave is of a man or a woman.
After looking online for any information on L.A. Clark, I found only one reference to this individual located here from Rootsweb.Ancestry.com. and it reads:
A Lone Grave of L. A. Clark is buried beside the road on May 11, 1911 by Mr. John McFall and his ranch hands.
