Newport covered bridge was built in 1885, by Parke county bridge builder, Joseph J Daniels. It crosses the Little Vermillion River, and is situated on CR 50 North, west of SR 63, northwest of Newport. The bridge has a span of 180 Feet, and is supported by a Burr Arch, this can be seen in my pictures. The World Guide Number is 14-83-04. Current Condition of Bridge: The bridge is in satisfactory condition, and is open to vehicular traffic.

Newport Covered Bridge
County commissioners ordered (1885) as link across Little Vermilion River at Newport and Quaker Point Free Gravel Road. Built 1885 by Joseph J Daniels, Rockville: Burr Truss design, 180 foot span, sandstone abutments. Floor replaced, 1984. Listed in National Register of Historic Places, 1994.
