The Dog Iron Ranch is located in the Will Rogers State Park on Lake Oologah, Northwest of Claremore, Oklahoma. The house was built in 1875 by Clem Rogers, and was known to the people of the area as “The White House on the Verdigris.” It was in a first floor bedroom of this house that William Penn Adair “Will” Rogers was born on November 4, 1789. The Dog Iron Ranch once consisted of over 60,000 acres, but much of the land was flooded by the creation of Lake Oologah, and today is just over 400 acres. The ranch and birthplace is open daily from dawn to dusk and admission is free.
