While out benchmarking and caching we saw a turtle next to a speed hump in a big parking lot. We thought it would move on, but after we found the cache and could NOT find the benchmark we were looking for, we saw that the turtle was still there. We decided to move it out of the parking lot into the wooded area with a creek in it that the turtle was pointed at anyway.
It had been raining lately and the creek was pretty high, so we put her in a calmer drainage channel area.
We *hoped* she was a red-eared slider (not a snapping turtle) when we picked her up, and then after we put her in the creek she poked her head out and we were sure!

Months most seen crossing: whenever the mood strikes them -- we think she was avoiding a fast-creek after lots of rain

Describe what happened. Example
"Mother Blanding had made her nest between the goldenrod and bluestem outside my window late last June.
By chance we were sitting on the porch when we noticed little blandings in the same location we had seen the mother take 2 months earlier."
