The Eastern Promenade consits of 68 acres of greenspace adjacent the Casco Bay in Portland, Maine. The construction of the 1.5 mile long park began in 1836, and was last work of Frederick Law Olmstead. The Promenade circles around the historic Munjoy Hill neighborhood and the park is the home of many historical memorials and monuments, including a decommissioned US battleship and 1891 bandstand. The vast majority of the current park features were added long after the park was designed by the Olmsteds, but the sweeping, curving promenade maintains the Olmsted flavor.
