The tower to the West of the gauge house has a concrete block west of it, anchoring its quide cables. This is where the benchmark we were looking for is located.
This gauge house has been in continuous operation since 1937, though I doubt it used telemetry and a UHF transmitter at that time. On the side of the gauge house is a scale, reading from 32 to 54 feet (limited use of metric back then). Hopefully, the river never got THAT high! From the river and running up the bank about 30 feet horizontally is an old disused gauge made of a board with vertical gauges every 3 feet or so.
Just in case you're in the area and looking for a campground, there's one right across the road from this station. Just turn east off the Trail Castlegar highway at the coordinates below and follow the road.
