William Blake was a poet and painter, probably most famous for his "Songs of Innocencence and Experience". [1]
While living in Felpham Blake ejected a soldier, John Scofield, from his garden. Afterwards Scofield claimed that Blake had said "Damn the King" and had uttered seditious words. Blake stood trial but was acquitted.[2]
The plaque reads
