"Der Tartscher Bühel, im Volksmund Bichl genannt, ist ein kahler, felsiger, 1077 m hoher Rundbuckel aus Glimmerschiefer im oberen Vinschgau. Seine abgerundete Form hat er durch Gletschereinwirkung während der Eiszeit erhalten. In den Felsenmulden des Hügels haben die Gletscher Moränenablagerungen zurückgelassen. Er ist eine mythen- und sagenumwobene Erhebung, die auch den Archäologen manchen Lichtblick beschert hat.
Der Felsenhügel ist in vorrömischer Zeit schon besiedelt gewesen. Darauf lassen sowohl archäologische Funde, die seit dem 19. Jahrhundert gemacht wurden, und Ausgrabungen schließen, die im Jahre 2000 getätigt wurden. Auf das älteste Fundstück im Vinschgau, das mit einer rätischen Runeninschrift versehen ist, ist man während des Baues einer Beregnungsanlage 1953 gestoßen." - Quelle: Wikipedia
