This Historical Marker gives a brief history of the first movie theater in Mesquite. The theater no longer exists; the site is now a parking lot.

On this site was the first freestanding theater in Mesquite, which operated until 1960. This site is part of the original Tithing Lot (Marker #4). Prior to building the Elwood Theater at this location, movies were shown in garages and at schools.
