This sundial in the shape of a sailing ship is exceptional, and this, as much for its unique design as for its craftsmanship. It is an excellent example of an artisan crafted device, which, by its functional purpose and striking appearance, amazes all who opt to spend a few minutes examining its components and learning more about how it operates.
"The dial is ten (10) feet in length (including bowsprit)
and seven (7) feet in height (bent) as masts must point in the direction of Polaris. It weighs approximately 600-700 pounds. It is made of aluminum, stainless steel and brass. It is supported by four stylized waves. The hull consists of four offset panels which serves to reduce its massive appearance."
