This cemetery has approximately 400 gravestones and contains numerous headstones from several generations of families that have lived in the community from before the founding of the church in 1886.

Originally, it was part of the Parish of St. James, Mahone Bay, until 1913, when the Parish of St.Martin’s was formed. The cemetery and church are near the mouth of Martin's River as it enters Mahone Bay.

The cemetery provides a history and commentary on the families that have lived in the community and worshiped at St. Martins for decades.
