This marker tells of one of the historical homes in Mesquite. The home no longer exists; the site has been developed for an AutoZone outlet.

Marker Text (required):
In 1901 newlyweds Edgar and Bertha Leavitt moved into a one-room house that had a shed for a kitchen on this property. He learned the trade of brick making and burned lime in a limekiln for mortar. Edgar was also a mason and carpenter and built not only his own home, but did the brick and plasterwork on many of the early houses in mesquite.
