The first coat of arms of Montreal which was designed by the first mayor, Jacques Viger, and was adopted in 1833 by the city councillors is carved in stone on a building in Griffintown, Montreal. A modified version of the Coat of Arms was adopted on 21 March 1938, therefore, this coat of arms pre-dates 1938. See link. I don't know what this building was originally used for but it now houses Savanah Technologies.
