Originally named Victory Playground (1941-1949), McFadyen Park was initially located at the northwest corner of Hargrave Street and York Avenue. It was renamed in honour of Charles Holmes McFadyen, a long-time member of the Winnipeg Public Parks Board. The park was relocated to its present site in 1972 to allow for the construction of the Holiday Towers complex.
