Strakonice is a historic town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Estimated population: 24,000. Since the 19th century Strakonice was a main production site for fez hats, Strakonice became an industrial center known for its motorbikes and hand guns. Strakonice is also well known for a brewery called: DUDÁK - Meštanský pivovar Strakonice, a.s., located nearby the castle. The Strakonice Burghers’ Brewery is the last brewery in the Czech Republic to still be owned by a town. The tradition of beer brewing has been linked to the rich history of the Otava River region since 1649. There is also conclusion of two rivers: Volynka and Otava.
