Operation Foundation is a faith-based volunteer effort designed to address not only the physical needs of the community, but also the cultural and spiritual needs as well. It is a weeklong cleanup on the downtown and surrounding residental areas. Each year over 500 volunteers donate thousands of hours of their time during this weeklong event. With a population of about 4,500 people, this is a major undertaking, and has been an overwhelming success. Since 2007, over $1.2 millon dollars worth of work has been completed with the City of Ligonier. Because this project, Ligonier become the first Good Works City in Indiana under the office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives.
