About this bench:
Ms Walsh, originally from Meyersdale, raised four children from just $99 in Social Security benefits when her husband died in 1951 and when her youngest son was old enough to enter grade school, she became a nurse. Working as a nurse for several years, she took up loom weaving and made several blankets for the young and later the old in the Allegheny County (PA) Kane Nursing Hospital system. She died in 2004 at the age of 92.
