This magnificent bronze of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (also known as El Cid Campeador) is by Anna Hyatt Huntington, one of America's foremost Animaliers. This piece shows him on horseback, apparently urging troops on to victory.

The statue is on the front lawn of San Francisco's great art museum, the Palace of the Legion of Honor in the parklands of the Presidio. To reach the museum, take Geary St to 34th and travel North on 34th into Lincoln Park.
