This church is the fourth church at this location and was built in 1886. The church was founded in 1762. The current building is in a late Gothic Revival style and was designed by local architect Lewis Jacoby. During the Revolutionary War when the British occupied Philadelphia an earlier version of this church was used as a hiding place for the Liberty Bell. The building continues to serve its United Church of Christ congregation.
The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
