The church of St. Mary, with the exception of the chancel, dates from 1898.
Samuel Whitbread whose memorial lies within the church is a famous name from this part of the Country . He was a brewer who made a considerable fortune with his renowned beer. Locally he has a school named after him and has made donations to Cardington church restoration . The family has a dedicated chapel inside the church.
This Church has a small section dedicated to the crew of the R101
which crashed in 1901.
