The co-ordinates given are for a point to the south east of the bridge. There are footpaths under the bridge so the structure can be photographed, in safety, from a number of angles.
The bridge crosses the road in a generally SSW-NNE direction with Catford Station being immediately to the north of the bridge. The bridge has a vertical clearance of 15ft 09in over the road so most normal high vehicles, such as double decked buses, can safely pass beneath it. The girders are supported by the walls of the old arched bridge and some columns that also serve as a barrier between vehicular and foot traffic.
