This granite statue of an infantry man stands at the entrance to Tong Cemetery, a suburb of Bradford.

The soldier is standing in a mourning pose with his rifle held in reverse as a sign of respect to the dead.
It was made by MESSRS B WATSON AND SONS, masons and was dedicated by the Bishop of Bradford on 7th November 1923.
The memorial is listed in the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials as
Reference number 28515.
The front of the plinth has the following inscription.
TONG’S TRIBUTE
IN HONOUR
OF THE MEN WHO FELL
IN THE GREAT WAR
1914 – 1919
“SO THEY PASSED OVER,
AND THE TRUMPET SOUNDED
FOR THEM ON THE OTHER SIDE"
