This marker reads:
"This is the former site of the "Yellow Block," erected by Charles H. O. Green in 1883. One of the most beautiful tenements in Pittsfield, it comfortably five or six families. After years of gradual decline it was purchased by the town in 1992 and demolished in 1995. Two years later the Selectmen sold the land the the Historical Society for this park."
The original building was built in 1883. It was 30' x 40' and two stories high. Later, one more story was add as well as side additions. Up until the building falling into disrepair it had always been painted yellow. Thus the name "Yellow Block". This area is now Frank Lyman Park.
