Casino Royale is the twenty-first film in the James Bond film series and the first to star Daniel Craig as fictional MI6 agent James Bond.
The film was primarily shot at Barrandov Studios in Prague (Czech Republic), with additional location shooting in the Bahamas, Italy and the United Kingdom.
About Karlovy Vary
The town of Karlovy Vary is located in the western part of the Czech Republic at the confluence of the rivers Teplá and Ohre (Eger), about 120 km from Prague. It is the largest and most famous spa town in the Czech Republic.
About Mill Colonnade
Karlovy Vary is known as the town of colonnades. Their main purpose is to provide the spa patients with comfort during treatments with the prescribed curative springs. All five colonnades are located not far from each other. If you walk away from the Hotel Thermal against the stream of river Teplá, you will soon come to the Park Colonnade. The largest spa structure in this town, the Mill Colonnade was built a few steps down the road, during the years 1871–1881.
The Mill Colonnade walls are decorated with allegorical reliefs. Looking down from the roof are 12 statues, each representing one month of the year. Among the columns you will also find the orchestra stage, a memorial dedicated to Josef Zítek, the architect of this structure, or a plaque with the “Ode to the Hot Spring” by Bohuslav Hasištejnský von Lobkowicz.
About scenes and photos
After a night on the train to Montenegro, Bond and Vesper arrives at the train station and are picked up by a limousine from Hotel Splendide.
One scene, where Bond and Vesper arrives at the train station was cut from the finished film. This was filmed inside the colonnade, where you get the feeling of a busy train station. They have a short conversation about government funds when walking to the limousine. The deleted scene is avaliable on Blu-ray and the extended DVD.
